1. Basic Information on Top
You can now view basic information about yourself just below your name at the top of the page. This includes details such as the college you studied, date of birth, current job, city you live in and more. This information is displayed as keyword links, so be warned that clicking them will take you away from the user’s profile page.
2. Visually Engaging Profile
The profile page now displays your five most recently tagged photos, just below the basic information details. You can remove photos you don’t like by clicking the “X” mark and use the Facebook security settings to decide who can see your tagged photos. Additionally, the Friends link now displays images of your friends in a grid.
3. Tabs Relocated
Tabs such as Wall, Info, Photos, Friends and more have now been shunted to the left navigation panel as links.
. Share Additional Experiences
You can share additional information about the people you work or study with, play football with, or specific projects you work on.
5. Additional Interests Now Showcased
You can now add your favorite music, books, movies and TV shows and more on your profile page. If you like a page, it also gets added and displayed as one of your interests.
6. Set a Post Type to Connect to Wall
The Status Update box is now hidden. You first need to select a category before you can post anything on your wall. For example, to post your status updates you need to select Status and then type in your message. Some of the other options include link, question, photo, status, and video.
. Prioritize Friends and Contacts
You can also categorize your Facebook contacts as friends from work, friends from the drama club, family and so on using tags.
8. Improved Search for Friends
You can now quickly locate your friends or people who share similar interests by using a variety of options namely, hometown, school and others.
While most of the personal bio data is already added to your profile pages, the new Facebook profile feature gives you an additional reason to spice up your image and display your life through photos, which was not so prominent with the earlier version. However, adding more details about yourself or tagging other people you’ve known or long or just met, involves some amount of risk to privacy. So double-check your privacy settings, and enjoy a photogenic profile of yourself with friends and contacts.
Now that you’ve read what’s new with the profile page, why not go ahead and join the fun.
